RWA on Solana is no longer a thought experiment: tokenized trackers of public equities now live on mainnet, and the design choices behind them are visible on-chain. This guide explains why issuers pick Solana, which Token-2022 levers matter for real-world assets, and what chain choice does not solve. xRWA is built around Solana mechanics: verified Token-2022 mints, live Jupiter prices and an Anchor program in development.

Why Solana for real-world assets

High throughput and low fees make frequent, small-denomination transfers practical, and mature tooling means issuers can ship compliance and metadata features without custom infrastructure. For instruments that trade around the clock, that matters.

Token-2022 levers issuers actually use

Solana Token-2022 is the SPL token program with extensions. The Scaled UI Amount extension changes displayed amounts without changing raw supply, which is how xStocks expresses dividend reinvestment through a rebasing display multiplier. Freeze authority and default account state are issuer controls: an issuer can freeze accounts or restrict who can hold. On-chain metadata keeps identity data with the mint. See token units and multipliers for how display scaling works in xRWA.

Oracles and atomic swaps

Price discovery blends on-chain oracle providers with traditional market data, and Pyth feeds are common. Atomic swap RFQs via xChange let counterparties exchange assets in all-or-nothing on-chain swaps. The tokenization process article covers where these pieces fit.

A verified example

xRWA evidence recorded on 2026-09-23 shows the SPYx mainnet mint is a Token-2022 mint with 8 decimals and a freeze authority present. That is a real issuer control, not a hypothetical one, and it should be priced into any analysis.

Commodity RWAs live on the older SPL Token program too. The Tether Gold Solana mint AymATz4TCL9sWNEEV9Kvyz45CHVhDZ6kUgjTJPzLpU9P was verified on mainnet on 2026-09-23: a legacy SPL Token mint with 6 decimals and both mint and freeze authority present - the same issuer-control lesson in a different token program. Its issuer describes the token as backed by physical gold; view third-party market activity on Birdeye.

Chain choice is not safety

Solana removes some infrastructure friction; it does not resolve permission, legal, supply reconciliation or audit questions. A verified mint can still carry an unresolved gap between on-chain supply and reported circulating supply. Read what xStocks are and the architecture overview before drawing conclusions.
